“The Lost World” is a 1912 novel by Arthur Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holmes) The story is about an expedition to a plateau in South America where prehistoric dinosaurs and other thought to be extinct creatures still survive. The expedition is lead by professor Challenger a character that many believe that the author based largely on himself.
