Restoration: A Novel of Seventeenth-Century England (Tie-In Edition)

Restoration: A Novel of Seventeenth-Century England (Tie-In Edition)
Restoration is a dazzling romp through 17th-century England. The main character Robert Merivel not only embodies the contradictions of his era, but ours as well. He is trapped between the longing for wealth and power and the realization that the pursuit of these trappings can leave one's life rather empty.
Customer Review: Book Report gone well
I suppose it helped that i didn't have very high standards for this book when i purchased it (i had to read it for a class assignment). anyway, the book was actually quite interesting and funny. The main character Merivel, is a complete idiot and screws up the vast majority of his life. And to make matters worse, he has some affinity for making love to fat women (kind of gross). It is definitely worth the read.
Customer Review: Fabuous Story
I had never heard of Rose Tremain and ordered this book in the audio version. The story is wonderful, as is the setting, and the use of the English language in that time period. I want to read more from this auther!
